    Unhappy User Authentication for printing

I have an HP Laserjet P2055DN printer connected to my PC (running Suse 10.3) by a router. It's also connected to two Windows PCs. The Windows PCs can communicate with the printer just fine, and print anything they like.

I finally got my system set up to use CUPS to print, using the proper driver for the printer. But whenever I try to print anything, I get error messages.

In the KDE Printer - Personal Settings screen, the icon for the printer has that little red circle with an X in it. Any jobs I send to print, whether "test" jobs in the set-up or via OpenOffice Word get error messages.

If I look at the job queue I see that the printer state is "stopped (accepting jobs)".

If I try to move jobs to the printer, I get the following error message:

"Unable to perform action "Move to HomePrinter" on selected jobs. Error received from manager:
You are not authorized to access the requested resource."

I also keep getting a sign-in page with my (non-root) user name demanding a password, but it rejects my password (as set up in YAST).

    What do I do?

I think only root can move jobs.

Most likely cups is asking for root password. Try with that.
