Default OS11.1 became very slow at shutting down

Recently my system has become very slow to shut down. It seems to pause for over a minute with the status bar just under the second S (of openSUSE) on the shutdown splash screen.

How can I see what is causing the delay? Is there a way to disable the splash screen so I can see the shut down steps in progress and try find where it's getting stuck. I assume it's at a point where it's trying to unmount or unload something.
