    Default Gnome Problem

    Hi all

    I decided the over day that i would give gnome a go , Ive been using KDE for about 3 years now

    install is fine etc but run into a problem

    The Desktop just freezes , i can be surfing the net then all of a sudden it freezes ,wont let me do anything at all so i have to hold the power button down and restart

    is there any known bugs?

    anyhelp wud be great

    That lock could have two main causes:

    - X lock (which means x server crashed so you cannot move neither mouse nor
    keyboard input)

    - kernel soft/hard lock which can be motivated for several causes

    To discard a X crash, just try to login via ssh session from another
    computer in the network when the system is locked. If you can login, is
    quite possible the cause of the freeze comes from X server (xorg, vga
    driver...)

    Well, there were some reports of system freeze, so take a look into
    bugzilla.

    Try disabling Beagle and review the logs to find any clue of the crash
    (i.e., a kernel oops, any cron task being launched at specific time of the
    day...)
