Create Document Menu

Hi,

On my right click in the desktop I get a menu titled “Create Document” where I find only Blank Document link to generate a flat file.

I have installed Open Office and just wanted to know how to enable creating Open Office Document, Spreadsheet and Presentation come under the Create Document Menu.

Regards,

tvks

You are on Gnome, right?

Make a new folder under you user’s home called “Templates” (~/Templates) and
create there the files you would like to appear on right-click menu, i.e.:

html document.html
writer file.odt
text file.txt

And so on…

Greetins,

Camaleón

what windows manager are you using (KDE3, KDE4, Gnome, Xfce, other)??
i ask, because her (using KDE3) i can right click desktop and choose
“Create new” and then can choose from long list of things to creat:

Folder
Text File
HTML File
Illustration Document
OpenDocument Drawing
OpenDocument Presentation
OpenDocument Spreadsheet
OpenDocument Text
Link to location
Link to application
Link to device (cdrom, floppy disk, camera, on and on)

maybe the question i should ask you is: How did you install
OpenOffice? Why wasn’t it installed during the default install? which
brings up: how did you install openSUSE (as EVERY way i’m aware of
will install OpenOffice unless you do a custom install and choose to
NOT install it)…the reason i ask is if it is correctly installed
(using YaST or zipper) it is automatically added to your menus…

[if you installed the regular “windows way” of going to the OpenOffice
web site and downloading a file to double click on, then you need to
break THAT old habit!]

this is NOT a last century operating system!
