Google Earth

Hello don’t know if any of you guys are experiencing the same problems. but google earth runs very buggy in suse for me. there will be black out spots, the street level grid will get all distored and mixed up, and constantly “flashes” in and out. I know it’s not a graphics card issue because I gave a dual boot with windows xp and it runs with no problems in xp. so any ideas?

Hi!
Try to turn off the desktop effect if they are enbaled. (In KDE4 - Kwin do with Alt + Shift + F12).
Good luck.

nothing wrong with Google Earth (version 4.3.7.191.6508)–it runs
perfect

here it is running in KDE 3.5.7 on a fully patched openSUSE 10.3
without desktop effects and with the nVidia driver on a nVidia GeForce
FX 5500 graphics card…

i assume you run all the same (since you didn’t say)…

but, i can’t check Google Earth on a Redmond game system (because i
don’t have use for one here)…

What do people use Google Earth Application for? Does it do something more than using the web interface. I can zoom in to my back yard and almost count the blades of grass on the lawn.

Hi
Has a great flight simulator, star and Mars view

when you say “web interface” what do you mean?

that is, if you are stuck with maps.google.com then you really need to
have a look at all the neato stuff available with the downloadable
Google Earth free app…

like, how about a tiltable 3D world…a star map, an under the sea
view, earth globe with or without sun/dark zones, all kinds of neat
stuff…

give it a try!!

Try running googleearth from the command line and see if any errors are
notified.

There have been some problems with incompatiblke libraries, notably a
camelia error.
To fix this rename google-earth/libcrypto.so.#.#.# as google-
earth/libcrypto.so.#.#.#.SAV or delete it
