firefox 3.5

Hi Folks

I’m new to openSuse so I’m probably making a foolish mistake
I’m trying to upgrade firefox to 3.5
I added the repository to yast

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.1]Index of /repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.1

and when I let it search I get this

http://www.drobbins.net/yast.png

this is for the 64 bit flavor
any ideas what I may be doing wrong?

Thanks
Dave

This is the repo you need
Index of /repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.1

post the terminal result of:

You have to give /mozilla repo a higher priority (lower numbers have higher
priorities) than opensuse /oss repo.

Greetings,

Camaleón

hmm
set the priority to 19 and refreshed
still get the same thing

Dave

nix that
it did change
testing now

Dave

that did the trick
thanx

Then try with static repo:

ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.1

Maybe the redirector is giving you an outdated server :-?

Greetings,

Camaleón

just setting the priority lower did the trick
I just didn’t quite understand what yast was saying
everything is good now

thanks for the help, I learned something
Dave

I installed mine using the one click install. I’m a noob don’t laugh lol.

Keep an eye on your repo’s - you will probably have duplicates.

zypper lr --details

Yea, I deleted the duplicates. The only thing though, I can’t install vlc. It’s requesting libportaudio.so.2. Which repo should I have to get that?

I’ve never known how to get the mini scroll bar for my large posts. could you also tell me how?

A search with .rpm provides checked shows like this

Post the text in the code wrap (shown in the toolbar by #)

Thanks for the word wrap.

I’m obv. I obviously missing some repo. libportaudio.so.2 is missing completely:(

Try switching the refresh ON with Packman

Then su terminal

zypper in vlc

Problem: nothing provides libglitz.so.1 needed by vlc-0.9.9a-0.pm.1.i586
Solution 1: do not ask to install a solvable providing vlc

Choose the above solution using ‘1’ or cancel using ‘c’ [1/C]: c

Didn’t work after I selected auto refresh. Any idea?

I’ve found the solution. I used a one click install to do it and it installed a new non-OSS repo. I know it was repo problem because I had some problems updating and stuff. Now to clean up my repos

Great
Except you now have a VLC repo which you should ONLY have libdvdcss from, then disable it
And do unconditional update from Packman
