Problem with vpn pcf file

Hello,

Managed to install cisco vpn from following URL > hxxp://www.mcmaster.ca/uts/network/vpn/vpnclient_linux.htm

Copied my preconfigured pcf file from windows to /etc/opt/cisco-vpnclient/Profile but it throws error saying >

linux-vs5s:/etc/opt/cisco-vpnclient/Profiles # vpnclient connect abc.pcf
Cisco Systems VPN Client Version 4.8.02 (0030)
Copyright (C) 1998-2007 Cisco Systems, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
Client Type(s): Linux
Running on: Linux 2.6.27.7-9-pae #1 SMP 2008-12-04 18:10:04 +0100 i686
Config file directory: /etc/opt/cisco-vpnclient

The profile specified could not be read.
linux-vs5s:/etc/opt/cisco-vpnclient/Profiles #

Given chmod 777 and chown too.

Any hints why not able to connect?
Also checked my pcf file and fixed IP address but not working still.

Any hints?

Regards,
Amey.

Ok… first, the Cisco VPN client is NOT a free client, unless you are
paying your dues to Cisco.

Second, the Cisco client is kernel module, and as such, it often
destroys things after running for awhile (unstable).

Third, your company may tell you that you have to run it because unlike
vpnc, it doesn’t allow you to override split tunneling. That’s a lie.
I can show you how to make that work with the Cisco proprietary client.

My BEST recommendation, if that, if possible, you run vpnc instead. With
that said, there are some things that vpnc cannot do…so YMMV.
Fortunately, I’m friends with our Network Admin, and so, for right now,
we can use vpnc instead of the broken Cisco client.

I have access the Cisco client… I guess I could give it a shot and let
you know what I see. If I do this it would be with openSUSE 11.1 64bit.
(I’m NOT well motivated to do this though… again, it WILL NEVER
operate correctly… NEVER… unless Cisco goes open source… which is
unlikely).

I think the last one I tested was 8.01, and that one I know for sure
required some patching to run on newer kernels… but it ran as well as
the Cisco client can…
