    Default Environment Variable Question

By default, where does opensuse 11.0 x86_64 and or Java's jdk/jre and or Tomcat6 store the JAVA_* environment variables ?

Which file or set of files are these variables exported from?

I would like to script out an Eclipse start/stop for Tomcat6 64 bit Java development and another for Tomcat5 32 bit Java development.

Thank you in advance for your time,

    Bruce

On my SLED 11 system it is set system-wide in /etc/profile.d/alljava.*
though that file could be named anything. Most apps that need system-wide
settings can drop a file in /etc/profile.d (usually with a reasonable
name) and then those are run whenever a shell or application is loaded
    that knows to run /etc/profile.

    Good luck.

    Thank you for your response.

OpenSuSe 11.0 x86_64 uses the following:

/etc/java/java.conf - System-Wide Java Config File which initializes the JAVA and JNI Lib directories.

/etc/profile.d/alljava.sh - Exports the primary Java environment variables and appends to the PATH environment variable prior to its exportation.

It was your assistance which led me in the proper direction,

    Thank you.
