    Post How to create tar.gz archive with ark in kde 4 in suse 11.1?

    Hello everyone

    I installed opensuse 11.1 with kde4 desktop

    I can extract tar.gz & ... types
    but i cant create tar.gz or gz or tar.bz2 & ... archives with ark...
    i only can create zip & rar archives
    I reinstalled opensuse for many times but it my problem didnt solved

    please guide me how to repair my ark...

    and at last

    When you specify the file to which you want to archive files, add the extension .tar.gz

    When you create a new archive, select the option "Tar archive (gzip-compressed)".
    By the by, do not re-install just for solving such silly problems. You never need to re-install. This is not Windo$
    openSUSE 12.3 (x86_64) with Kernel 3.7.10-1.16-desktop and KDE 4.11.2 on MacBook Pro
    Latest MS Windows version used: Win95

    You can just right click compress as...whatever

    Just install kde4-extractandcompress from Packman

    What shall reinstalling help? ark of KDE 4.1 didn't support it.
