Default X does not come up

I have SUSE Linux-d39b on my machine. When I start the machine, the X windows does not come up. I get a single user login prompt, which I can login to. The display card is an NVIDIA GeForce 9800. Everything was working fine till now and I made no changes.

    Thanks for your help.
