    Default Yast software manager auto-exit

    Hello all,

Since I've been running 11.1, there's been something that has been slightly irritating that I'm wondering if there is any way of changing. I often install/uninstall a lot of software from the Yast Software manager, and every time an operation is finished, the software manager automatically exits. There are a lot of times, though, in which I would like to keep the software manager open after it finishes an install/uninstall.

In 11.0, after the software manager was done doing an operation, it would prompt the user as to whether he/she wanted to continue using the software manager or exit. I miss this prompt in 11.1. Is there any way I can restore it? I have looked all through the Yast options, and I have searched the forums and Google for an answer. I haven't been able to come up with anything though.

If it exists, I am probably looking in the wrong place; wouldn't be the first time.

    Thank you,
    srschifano

There's an even more beautiful feature, though I don't know if it's already in 11.1:
In Yast go to System - /etc/sysconfig editor
Search for "PKGMGR", if PKGMGR_ACTION_ON_EXIT is found you can change it's value to "summary" (without the quotes). The software installer will not only give you a "Back" and a "Finish" button, it will also give you a summary of your latest actions.

If not in 11.1 it might be in the Yast repo for 11.1

Good luck and let us know if it worked.

I checked on my mean main machine, which runs 11.1 and it works there.

Did a search and had no PKGMGR_ACTION_ON_EXIT added the line manually and still no joy.

My workaround is to open Yast then the SW installer that way at least i don't have to reopen yast

I don't have the PKGMGR_NO_EXIT option either. I set up the YaST repo and installed the never version of the sysconfig editor but still no dice.

Obviously if there is or was an option in /etc/sysconifg, there must be some way of editing that behavior. If, as geoffro couldn't get it to work just adding that line, maybe there's another variable that could be used.

Unfortunately, all of the documentation I find on /etc/sysconfig is scant. Does anyone know of or have a better reference for it?
