    Default software CAD

    Hi evrybody,

I'm a new Linux user and I decided to change my pc OS from Windows to Suse. I installed openSuse 11.1 and I found it very nice. My problem is that I want to use mechanical drawing softwares with this new OS but I don't know which programm I have to install.
Do you know if exist a opensource 3D mechanical modeller?

    Thank you for your patience.
    bye

    - From previous posts in this forum others have mentioned and enjoyed using
'EagleCAD'. Tried it? Found other suggestions from this forum?

    Good luck.

    - VariCAD may fit your requirements, but it's a bit expensive (maybe focused
    to professional environment).

    - IntelliCAD has a list of software that you could also find useful:

    https://members.intellicad.org/members/index.php

    - Wikipedia has another list to compare capabilities and licensing:

    HTH :-)

one or more of the following should be helpful...at least 16 different
programs (some free, some commercial) are mentions in just one of these:

im an architect... i have tried arcad... its a really good program... i dont use it because i have to present plans for construction permissions in .dwg format (weird i know...) so i use bricscad 9 with wine... and recently have tested autocad 2008 using playonlinux which install a wine version with DIB engine and it improves performance a lot... i also use blender for 3d images rendering with yafaray... best software ever...!
