Installing apps to on Gnome - missing launch icons

I noticed that on a few occasions when I install an app, I find that there is no launch icon placed in the Gnome menus and that the only way I can launch it is from the terminal.

These are mostly apps that aren't installed from the 4 main repositories. A couple were from the /software.opensuse.org site using the one click. Is this normal or do I have a messed up system?

The last one I installed was tpfand which according to the owner's site there should be a launch icon placed in >Sytem>Administration menu.

That would depend on the packager and how defined the options for the rpm.

Nothing you should worry about, thought. Some follow the spec to add the new
installed program in the menu, but some don't :-)

You can try "alacarte" from "/oss" repo.

It's a small app to manage applications from app browser.
