    Smile Gnome & KDE

Is there a way to simply use the kde 'desktop' with GNOME? gnome is simple to use, easy to configure, and simple dialogs. The way it handles usb devices is much better too.
However, the only thing i do like about KDE is the desktop itself, which i am told is simply an application in itself. is there anyway to use this KDE desktop with GNOME?

It sound like you want the kde look in gnome
kde and gnome are desktop environments, you can't run kde IN gnome. You have to run either kde or gnome as a desktop environment. You should be able to run kde applications in gnome and vice versa.
    eg; konqueror in gnome
    or evolution in kde
    Leap 15.1_KDE

If you like the window management, you can replace metacity with kwin:
    Code:
    kwin --replace &
    .
What means for you the "desktop"? The plasmoids? You can use gDesklets on GNOME.

Or screenlets, they works nicely together with Compiz or KWin with compositing on.

Maybe you haven't installed the window manager (search for kwin in YaST Software Manager).

I tried kwin --replace, but it always seems to hang up on 'launching knotify4'
