Thread: KDE4.2 Repo Switch

  1. #1

    Default KDE4.2 Repo Switch

I apologize if this has already been posted somewhere, but I wasn't able to find a thread that addressed the specific issue.

I was using the Factory repos before to update KDE4.2 and then saw the posts to switch to the new KDE42 repos (Core, Community, and Playground). I just did that today, but as soon as I did I noticed that looking through the packages in Yast results in my stuff being too far ahead (my installed KDE4 packages are all red). Everything seems to be behind by a version or two and some stuff even lists 4.1.3 packages whereas I've got the 4.2.2 package installed.

Is this just due that the repo hasn't fully switched and caught up yet or am I missing something?

Set your Updates repo to the same priority as all your kde42 which should be 99.
oss and non-oss should be 120

Now in software management filter by repo and select new desktop and community 42 repos one at a time and do Update all in this list unconditionally

If you get some conflicts and can't figure it out, save it to file with the expert button and post here.

    * Some packages you may have like kde4-amarok need deleting. Because the package has been re-named amarok. It's a bit messy, but that's what you get playing with Factory. The 42 repos are frozen.

Frozen as far as I understand mean there will be little or no change, though the community repo may have some updates to themes etc..

Im currently using this for factory repo.

    URL: Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.1

Do I need to change mine then?

Nice. How do I fix it so my available is not always older than my installed? Do I need to change the priority of something?

Well get rid of those factory repos you have. But if you just want to make them a lower priority change the one you want to have low priority to a higher number.

Caf's guide here tells you about priorities

    Good Luck,
