    Default digikam and showfoto crash

    Hello,

the applications "digikam" and "showfoto" crash since a few days after regular software update with "zypper". Some installation information for "digikam" on my laptop:

    Information for package digikam:

    Repository: Update-11.0
    Name: digikam
    Version: 0.9.3-70.2
    Arch: i586
Vendor: SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Nuernberg, Germany
    Installed: Yes
    Status: up-to-date

    Betriebssystem: Linux 2.6.25.20-0.1-default i686
    System: openSUSE 11.0 (i586)
    KDE: 3.5.10 "release 46"

When I try to open a picture with "showfoto" or when I click on a picture in "digikam" the application crashes and I find the following messages at the end of the crash report:

    #38 0xb7032f00 in QEventLoop::enterLoop () from /usr/lib/qt3/lib/libqt-mt.so.3
    #39 0xb7032d96 in QEventLoop::exec () from /usr/lib/qt3/lib/libqt-mt.so.3
    #40 0xb701ac4f in QApplication::exec () from /usr/lib/qt3/lib/libqt-mt.so.3
    #41 0x08079819 in ?? ()
    #42 0xb6a0b5f5 in __libc_start_main () from /lib/libc.so.6
    #43 0x08078b11 in ?? ()

Can you please give me a hint to solve this problem?

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Kind regards

    Hello,

digiKam in the version 0.9.3-70.2 no longer is maintained and I have to use a higher stable version of digiKam.

I was looking for a respository of openSUSE that delivers last stable digikam-0.9.5 for KDE 3.5 but I didn't succeed in finding this repository. Thus I ask you to give me a hint to find the openSUSE repository which I can define to get this stable version of digiKam.

    Thank you in advance.

    Have a nice day

    Hello,

digiKam 0.9.3 was removed and KDE3-digikam 0.9.5-6.1 has been successfully installed:

    Information for package kde3-digikam:

    Repository: KDE:KDE3
    Name: kde3-digikam
    Version: 0.9.5-6.1
    Arch: i586
    Vendor: openSUSE Build Service
    Installed: Yes
    Status: up-to-date
    Installed Size: 26.4 M
    ...

    Information for package digikam:

    Repository: Update-11.0
    Name: digikam
    Version: 0.9.3-70.2
    Arch: i586
Vendor: SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Nuernberg, Germany
    Installed: No
    Status: not installed
    Installed Size: 25.7 M
    ...

But the higher version of digiKam did not solve the problem. Perhaps a digiKam - User here in the forum had a similar problem with digiKam and can give me a hint to solve the problem.

    Thank you in davance.

    Have a nice day.

    Hello,

in the meanwhile kde3-digikam in the version 0.9.5-7.1 is running on my laptop but the error did not vanish. If in the digiKam settings for the "short infos" the items for the file infos and for the picture infos in the topmost segment are not activated, then I can move the cursor over the icon of a picture in an album and digiKam does not crash. If only one item in this segment is activated and if then the cursor is moved over an picture icon in an album digiKam will crash. Besides anymore it is not possible to change a picture with the help of digiKam and "showfoto" also crashes when opening a picture. I assume that a library of a software package should be downgraded. Can you give me a hint which library this could be?

    Thank you in advance

Maybe ImageMagic, but it's just a guess.

I have exactly the same problem!
Did you try to run gwenview? This crashes on my machine (openSuse 11.0, KDE 3.5.10), too, since a recent update with zypper.

I then installed the debug-info for gwenview for having a deeper look inside and now, gwenview runs fine!
Sadly, installing debug information for digikam did not work here.

Any news on these crashes? I would really appreciate it!

Thank you for your answers and your help. It was not possible to detect the reason for the crash of digiKam and showfoto on my laptop.

Therefore I decided to install KDE 4.1.3 on my laptop and there it is no problem to open digiKam 10 and showfoto.

In my opinion this thread can be closed.

    Have a nice day
