Thread: Qt Creator may be my favorite IDE (not just for Qt)

Default Qt Creator may be my favorite IDE (not just for Qt)

I just downloaded the Qt Creator IDE and so far I think its great. I have been using KDevelop for quite some time, but it seems that Qt Creator has it beat in a few areas.

I am quite fond of the editor, the smart indentor is about the best I have seen among several IDEs. It has plugins for several version control systems such as Perforce and Subversion. It has a pretty nice interface, which is functional and aesthetically pleasing. It's got a nice search tool where you can easily search for classes, methods, and files.

I've primarily just been using KDevelop up until now, so I am not sure how Qt Creator compares to Anjuta, Eclipse, or Netbeans in all areas, but I do like the editor and formatting capabilities better than Anjuta and Netbeans.

KDevelop frustrates me from time to time so I was looking for something new, and I really like this IDE so far.

    Hi,

you should have a look at kdevelop4 which is much greater than kdevelop3: it introduces semantic syntax highlighting and much more. There are some interesting blog entries about kdevelop4 here.:

    KDevelop Zwabel’s Weblog

Can't wait until it is finished but I've tested it and it is really awesome (but of course unfinished)

    Have a lot of fun
