Thread: Dolphin does not see home folder

  1. #1

Default Dolphin does not see home folder

    I have strange problem.

Dolphin does not see files and folders in my home folder. It just shows empty folder without error messages.

Don't understand it because it has been working ok so far. All other directories seems to display correctly.

If I do file listing in terminal it works ok, and running dolphin as root (file manager with super user rights) also seems to work.

    Nothing in logs.

    I'm using kde 4.2 and Opensuse 11.1

You could try doing a rename of the hidden .kde4 folder
From the CLI out of X do:

    mv /home/username*/.kde4 .kde4old

    put your username* in here

When you open your home directory is there any error message from Dolphin (look down at the status bar)?

I think my SSD drive was going mad. For example rebooting is very slow and produces error messages from file system mounting etc.

Also file system check did never get disk to shape, I had to run it every startup.

I have seen strange behavior after power failure few days ago (even I have UPS), so maybe it has affected to ssd disk somehow.

Luckily I have recent disk image backup, so I restored it and everything works now. I have to wait if this strange behavior continues, and then try to replace disk.

    Thanks for helping.
