openOffice docx saveas

OpenOffice 3.0.1 build 3.0.1.3 (SUSE branded from respository), openSUSE 11.1,
KDE4.2.1 release 106.

Tried for first time today since going to version 3.0.1 from openSUSE repository to save a document as a .docx That option no longer exists in the save as menu. I have a X86_64 system. The old odf-converter (i586) is still installed.

Any help appreciated

After seeing this post, I tried this myself. I too couldn’t find this option. I also tried the Microsoft XML format but it gave me an error.

I am not bothered about this anyway because I will never send anyone a file with .docx extension.

I tried reading a file I received from someone in this format and it was correctly reading it.

Save as .docx has never been available. It is planned for Go-OO 3.1.

Use Save as .doc.

Not totally true, Novell had a odf-converter program that worked fine on OpenSUSE 10.3.and 11.0 32-bit machine. I now have a 64 bit system and the i586 version does not work with the 64 bit OOo.

Is there a repo to get a beta of OOo 3.1 or should I see if its available on OO0 website.

Look at OpenOffice.org - openSUSE

Thanks looks like 3.1 is scheduled for release today if its on time. I check
opensuse factory. I’m in the process of updating my new test system to 11.1
from 11.0. I have been using 11.1 for a while in production. Old test sytem
died a slow death.

Thanks for your response.
