Disable Auto-Login

Why?

Safer. And provides easy switch from one Desktop environment to another: ie; kde3 to kde4. It is also easier to address solutions to graphical issues with auto-login off.

Then the Expert Options - Login Settings

Uncheck the Auto-login box

Sorry for posting in old thread. Had to ask this!
Are the GNOME 3.4.2 user settings compatible with YaST account manager.
i.e. Will the changes made through YaST gel well with changes in GNOME and vice versa.
Hope they use the same settings file :slight_smile:

Does an alteration in gnome require admin password? If yes, then I guess the change will be the same

if systemd did not change this*, I know two places where one can configure suche thing:

  • /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager DISPLAYMANAGER_AUTOLOGIN="". If empty, no auto login. Can also be changed via YaST/system
  • in the kde systemconfig, login screen, tab “commodities”

but at least a friend of mine just said that He had problem and he found a solution but couldn’t explain what to me, so mai be this is not all the anwser (openSUSE 13.1)

  • sometime systemd do not anymore use the /etc/sysconfig variables
