    Is there a software package for converting a ms-word file to .tex file?

    there is a package called word2x that you can download here Word2x download page

    i think it doesn't convert embedded images from word documents.
    why do people open source?

    It seems I have stumbled over a better package:
    wvLatex installable via yast.

    From today I'm with my son in USA and my laptop is back home in India. However, the only repositories I use for non-entertainment purpose are oss, non-oss & debug. So it must be with one of them.
