Thread: Service menus in Dolphin

    Default Service menus in Dolphin

I'd like to create some custom service menus, but I'm running into some trouble getting them to work in Dolphin (or Konqueror, for that matter) under KDE 4. I've heard that the syntax is a little different for Dolphin vs. Konqueror, but even when I follow the only suggestion I've found, I still can't get any of them to work.

One of the problems is that I don't quite know where the .desktop files are supposed to live. I've got my test.desktop file in two places:

    /usr/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus/
    /usr/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/

    and no joy.

I haven't been able to find any documentation or how-tos on creating these things, save for one:

    Creating Konqueror Service Menus

and that's not working for me. Perhaps something changed from KDE 3 to 4.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Similarly, I followed that link and tried the instructions. I could not get it to work.
