Thread: SLED 11 Repositories

    Default SLED 11 Repositories

I have SLED 11 and would like to add the OpenSuse 11.1 repositories to this. I would like Skype, Google Earth and a few others, how can I add the repositories?

I am sure both use Yast to do this, I know both use it to manage software.

Can one mix and match repositories between SLED 11 and OpenSuse? Aren't there any problems with doing that?

There CAN be problems doing this. Not recommended UNLESS you're
prepared to deal with the potential outcome.

Right now, there's fairly good synergy between SLES/SLED 11 and
openSUSE 11.1, but as openSUSE 11.2+ come out, the risk
    will go up QUICKLY.

So... in general, I recommend against it, but do I do
it (well, I haven't gone to SLES/SLED 11 yet, but certainly
did the same on SLES/SLED 10 and openSUSE 10.1)? Yes,
I do this when I have to since SLES/SLED is a woefully
incomplete distro (unless you just want to do the
mundane... and then you're back to Red Hat anyhow).

    Hi
Just waiting for the SLE11 option to appear on the build service

I also use the packages from pcc-services to cover off some of the
multimedia stuff, add the SDK and I'm usually to to go for another
    three years

Good point, OR... build it yourself through the build service.
(some packages will never be built unless you do it yourself)
