Um, no, most people who have used Beagle have experienced poor
performance in it and in other apps (I like Beagle myself, but I have to
shoot it every once in a while because it gets confused by something it
sees on my system and starts consuming massive amounts of memory and CPU).

Similarly, the updater rewritten in Mono also had problems. So much so
it was re-re-written because it's kinda an important part of the system.

Mono is well documented to have performance problems. Not as bad as they
used to be.
