    Default Double lines in Firefox

I'm seeing double lines and horizontal bars in Firefox. Searching around I see this was an issue a few years ago but I haven't found a fix for it. Has anyone else experienced this? How did you fix it?

    What desktop are you using?
Are the lines in the HTML area or around it? Or is it the entire window?
Did this happen after installing an add-on?
    Are the video drivers installed?

I should have been more specific. I am frequently getting double lines of text using Firefox 3.07. I'm also seeing random horizontal bars, broken lines that "disappear" if I scroll further.

I just did a clean install of openSUSE 11.1 yesterday, with the Gnome desktop. I had problems with the installation, and it took three attempts. The third attempt seemed to go fine except that I had to force a reboot (power off the computer).

If the video drivers are installed, you could try disabling the desktop effects.
On the other hand, if it's because the installation failed I would recommend trying to figure out why it does so. Firefox may not be the only one affected. Have you ever had trouble installing openSUSE on this machine? Maybe the cd/dvd was damaged or the download was corrupt.

I've had this problem since installing 11.1 and have yet to find a fix. I have tried with different window managers and desktops but not yet had any luck in resolving this. It is not restricted to Firefox as clashcityrocker suggests, any window that requires scrolling seems to be affected to varying degrees.

I have been running SuSE and openSUSE since version 8.x on this machine and never seen this before, not even on 11.0. Other distros installed on other partitions are also free of this so I'm inclined to rule out hardware.

Attached is a screenshot showing the problem.

Do you guys have an Nvidia video card by any chance? I'm asking this because version 180 for the drivers came out somewhere around openSUSE 11.1 release and maybe this is why Paul has had problems only since then. I remember the new drivers didn't recognize my video card so I had to revert to version 177.82
Might worth a try; here's the download page: NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Advanced Search

No, unfortunately this is not the problem, I do not use any external drivers. I have an Intel 855 GM built-in graphics card/controller with my HP laptop. Thanks for the info though - I'll keep searching...

Someone on Firefox forums had a similar problem and got it solved: Lines overlap
