System under high load unusable?

Hello there,

I have a problem with my fresh OpenSuSE 11.1 install. When I start a CPU intensive task, I get things like this:

When I try to to typpe a text I geeet thhhhingsss llike this.
My mouse is aaalsoooo quiteeee jerky. I’ve tried allll the kernel schedulllleersss, bbbut it diiiiidn’t heelllp.

Nice tasks, such as BOINC here, don’t give problems. Sorry if the question is already asked, I can’t find it.

Can you post more info on your system?

Actually quite normal, just like it was with OpenSuSE 11.0 under ‘high load’, well, probably load isn’t the right word here :stuck_out_tongue:

I just had this problem and thought it was a kde4 update problem. I update a few times a week, so I can’t point to any one update. But, a few days ago, my mouse started to hesitate and then the keyboard. I stumbled onto the solution: kill boinc.

I have been running the same boinc version for months. This problem popped up after a recent update and I don’t know how to fix it. I seem to have installed a newer version of boinc than is found at the univ. Berkeley site or in the repos. I have been away from the computer for hours with only boinc running. It shows 17 minutes of cpu time.
