    Default installing new software error

im trying to install a new program and after I use configure I get the following error:

checking for kernel version... The file /usr/src/linux/include/linux/version.h does not exist.
Please, install the package with full kernel sources for your distribution
or use --with-kernel=dir option to specify another directory with kernel
    sources (default is /usr/src/linux).

which package does it refer to ? I'm using KDE4

You did not install the kernel sources.
You have to start Yast Software management and search for the kernel-source package. But be carefull, if you updated you kernel through online update you will have to install the kernel-source from your running kernel from an online repository.

It's refering to the package "kernel-source".

    Kind regards,

Hm, apparently the kernel is installed

I will try updating to the latest version and try it again.

    Perhaps you should state

    a) which software you want to install (name, exact version and link to download)

    b) which kernel packages (with exact version number) you have installed

We may like quiz shows, but on fora giving decent information is the better way
