    Perfect Thread title.

    What did you find here
    /home/TheMask/hs_err_pid5269.log

You know Vuze is a Java app. Nice, but for many this is considered unnecessary for simple file sharing. So many do avoid it, though I do use it.!

Sometimes a fix can be achieved by downloading the latest Azureus4.jar here: SourceForge.net: Azureus: Files

    Then place it in
    /usr/share/java/Azureus

Default My suggested solution. The packagers compile the latest Vuze

caf4926 you keep saying the same thing as if it is actually a solution. The solution would be for the packagers to compile a new binary for Vuze instead of telling us to drop Azureus4.jar into /usr/share/java/Azureus.

    @FlameBait
A logical first step would be to report the error to the Packager which is I think what you suggest and I agree. If it's the Packman version, you will likely receive a very quick response.

I should have perhaps used the word temporary - which is what my suggestion is. It might or might not solve the issue. As to it being the same thing? I know I suggested it recently, perhaps it was to you? But quite honestly I find I often repeat the same thing over and over, it's part of what happens in the Forum - Which admittedly, could be reduced in some cases if users just used the search.

    Default New Binary needed.

Yea I got the same advice from you. I downloaded the tarball from Sourceforge and it was the wrong file. The sources I downloaded gave me Azureus2.jar not Azureus4.jar. After downloading and extracting both the 64 and 32 bit Linux versions of Vuze_4.1.0.4 and seeing no Azureus4.jar and not knowing if I was to use the 32 bit version or the 64 bit version I gave up. Vuze is still telling me I need to "update" even after "updating" in the normal way. It refuses to reboot any time I try from the Vuze/Azureus menu.

I don't know how to get hold of the packager and would not know what to tell them. Seeing how this problem is now old I don't expect it's getting fixed soon. Seeing how Vuze is pretty popular as a Torrent client I figured it would have taken care of it's self by now. Before I used SuSE I just used to DL the tarball and install it in my /home/ and it always "just worked" including updates done in the normal Azureus way. Using the precompiled binaries didn't work out well under my old distro either as they were compiled against open Java and not Sun Java and were broken. That is before I ran 64 bit and that makes everything different I never know what files I am supposed to get.

Ktorrent is **** compared to Azureus even when run in the classic mode the way I run "Vuze". All I want is a pre-compiled binary that works compatible with what I already have installed.

My Vuze from Packman 32bit OS 11.1 is working fine. No problems of late.

The link I gave earlier offers a direct download (first in the list) of the Azureus4.jar (no need to extract it). It goes in the folder I specified.

What more can I say: Except perhaps Remove it completely and or try a re-name of the .azureus folder.

Default not restarting problem still exists.

I just renamed the old .jar file .old and dropped the one from the link in. That at least got rid of the "update" looping problem but Vuze still refuses to restart from the Vuze menu.

I Liked the name Azureus better.

I am waiting on a new blob but from all the various Vuze trouble seen I doubt we will get a new binary any time soon.

Vuze still quits itself without notification - even after updating the .jar.

I was also facing the same problem. Whenever I started vuze it just died. I would have re-installed vuze 100 times, it made me really insane.

Then I just replaced the openjdk package with that from Sun's latest jre. I am not sure if that did the trick but since then Vuze is working fine on my dektop
