Smile Installing Christian Bible Study Applications

    Hey there,

I've been a long time Ubuntu user but I just switched and am trying out Opensuse 11.1 on this Toshiba L300 Satellite Pro laptop here.

I need to get OpenSUSE set up in a way that is easy for me to use and I need it to have a few neat apps while not having the ones that I will never use.

I need apps for programing (I am working on building a website and am going to start using Joomla).

I need general apps that make life easier (is there like a list of it or something?)

I need Applications for doing bible study. Most of what I tried, I ran into problems installing. I could not get sword to install because of missing dependencies that I did not find and install yet. And a bung of other bible study software depends on sword 1.5....

Also, is there a package that has a lot of compilation dependencies?? I know Ubuntu had one called build-essentials.

    Thanks
    ~Shawn

I take it you have chosen Gnome as your desktop

openSUSE has both official and unofficial repositories which you can access using YaST which will handle all the dependencies.

sword is available from Software.openSUSE.org - so there shouldn't be any problems about dependencies
