Thread: How do you get rid of the trash...

  1. #1

Default How do you get rid of the trash...

...icon from the desktop? I got it added to the lower panel, and somethin' about trash - just don't go on the desktop...

And in order to keep rookie questions to a minimum, where's the package manager, to euthanize the 'beagle' indexer?

    Thanks.

    - - load the Gnome Configuration Editor (similar to Windows Registry Editor)
it should be under Applications > System Tools > Configuration Editor
    - - dig down to the section /apps/nautilus/desktop
    and enable the "Trash_icon_visible" checkbox

Stole this from a forum on how to restore (vs. remove) the Trash icon.
Change the last step, obviously, to do the opposite. You can load
gconf-editor directly if you'd prefer that to going through menus to get
    to the configuration editor.

    Good luck.
