    Exclamation Borland Together

    Hi Guys

I am an IT student at University. I have managed to get myself a copy of Borland Together 2006 software - Linux Version. I am doing a Software Development module.

The Together software is brilliant UML Software for Modelling Software Systems.

The file I have is called [ TEC_ARCHITECT_2006_LINUX.BIN ] and is situated inside the [ Linux ] folder on the CD.

    I tried installing the [ TEC_ARCHITECT_2006_LINUX.BIN ] but I got the following:

    darwin@linux-wvu6:~/Programs> ./TEC_ARCHITECT_2006_LINUX.BIN
    Preparing to install...
Extracting the JRE from the installer archive...
    Unpacking the JRE...

    darwin@linux-wvu6:~/Programs>
I would greatly appreciate any help given to resolve this matter.

    Thank You.

Have you tried running it as root?

No I have not tried that yet !! Mainly because I don't know how I could run something as a root

I'll go and do a google search, hopefull I'll find out.

    I'll report back the result.

    Thanks

    Hi
Do you have glibc installed? What happens is you try running the bin
file with --help at the end, is there any options you can pass through
    it.

In the install documentation, does it indicate environment
variables that need to be set?

Maybe the libraries in glibc are too new for the 2006 version your
    trying to install.

    Hi
Via YaST -> Software management -> Software and search on glibc. Else
    from the cli (console/konsole);
    Code:
    zypper se -i glibc
If you don't get any output then it needs to be installed (although I
    think it should be) either via YaST or zypper;
    Code:
    sudo zypper in glibc

    Hi again Malcolm

I typed that command, and I got an output back ! So it is installed.

I also went to it through YaST, and I noticed .. I had a lot of upgrades !!

Should I upgrade / update everything in the Upgrades section ? Or Not ?

    Thanks

glibc is probably installed, or your system wouldn't be able to function. However it may be the wrong version for your CD's installer for one reason or another. Try this:

    Code:
    sh -x Tec_Architect_2006.bin
and report back what it outputs.
