    Due to the use of Btrfs by default, the advice to use dd for cloning is not a good idea. At the very least it should come with the appropriate warning (bullet 5), and work around (bullet 3).

    Block-level copies of devices

    Users are probably best off only cloning /home, and then reinstalling and updating the system and applications into free space on a new drive.

    Are you aware of the fact that you're replying to a 6 year old thread? Things have moved away from those days at a rapid pace.
