Thread: Right-click iffy

    Default Right-click iffy

I've got a weird problem here. My right click always acts iffy on certain applications in openSUSE 11.1. For example, Firefox (the way it behaves is always the same regardless of the application, but it doesn't seem as if all apps do this). I'll right-click on the page to bring up the right-click menu, and lots of times as soon as I right-click it menu pops up and disappears. I may have to right-click as many as 10 times before I get the menu to stay up, and sometimes I have to right-click and hold it and drag my cursor down to the option I want. It's very odd and getting very frustrating. Any ideas on what this could be?

I never had this problem on Windows but I do believe I had it a little bit (not to this extent) on Ubuntu 8.04.

    Hi
If you open the control center (from the computer menu[slab]) then
under the hardware section select 'mouse' and tweak the settings.

    Hi,

Thanks, but I didn't see any options that look like they would help me?

    Hi
In that case you probably need to investigate the settings
in /etc/X11/xorg.conf or reconfigure your mouse (Sax2) via Graphics
Card and Monitor in the same section of the control center.

I was just reading the other day that the latest Firefox has a specific known problem with this issue. Sorry I can't find the link or direct you to the info, but typical symptoms include random right-click options being activated without selecting them, just from doing the initial right-click and nothing else, which is what happens on my own machine quite frequently.

Your problems may well be related, though if you say it's happening in other apps perhaps not. I don't recall whether this was a SUSE-specific issue or common with Firefox in general.
