    Exclamation HP 2133 / SLED 10 / Broadcom Wireless Problem - Full Info

    Hello,

    I have recently purchased a HP Netbook 2133 with SLED 10 installed. Overall I love Linux but just cant get the Wireless working!!

    Hsave had a look around and this site seems to be the best to post on to get the problem resolved!

    My Netbook picks up the signal etc.... I go to connect and enter my WEP key and it goes off, does something (the little logo changes from not connected to half connected) then it comes back and asks me for the WEP Key again.

    Anywsay, from the sticky I got the following information, please see below:

    Stage 1

    02:00.0 Network Controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4310 USB Controller (rev 01)
    07:03.0 Ethernet Controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5788 Gigabit Ethernet (rev 03)

    Stage 2

    02:00.0 Class 0280: 14e4:4315 (rev 01)
    07:03.0 Class 0200: 14e4:169c (rev 03)

    Stage 3 (looks like I have the right firmware, but a driver issue?)

    eth(): Broadcom BCM4315 802.11 Wireless Controller 4.170.76.0
    usb 3-1: Product: HP Integrated Module
    usb 3-1: Manufacturer: Broadcom Corp
    usb 3-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
    eth1 renamed to eth()
    ethxx() (WE) : Driver using old /proc/net/wireless support, please fix driver!

    Stage 4

    eth 1 IEE802.11-DS Access Point: Not Associated
    Link Quality: 5 Signal Level: 0 Noise Level: 0
    Rx invalid nwid:0 invalid crypt:0 invalid misc:0

    eth() No wireless extensions

    Stage 5

    eth1 Scan Completed :
    Cell 01 Address: 00:11:F5:ED:66:70
    ESSID: BTVOYAGER2110-70
    Mode: Managed
    Frequency: 2.422Ghz (Channel 3)
    Quality: 5/5 Signal Level: -35dBm Noise Level:- 15dBm
    Encryption Key: on
    Bit Rates: snip.

    Now do I have to use the ndiswrapper?

    Is a WEP Key the same as a WEP Passphrase?

    All help appreciated!

    Thanks, waynestoyotamr2.

    Hi
    That would probably indicate that no b43 firmware is installed, which
    is probably what you need to do (I'm not the wireless expert here
    lol). Have a read of the stickies and search the forum on b43 and
    firmware. There are plenty of posts on what to do

    Yes, that command is for openSUSE, not SLED.

    In any case, as I have stated many times in this forum, a 4315 is
    _NOT_ supported by b43. You need to use ndiswrapper with the Windows
    driver, or the Broadcom hybrid driver.
