I have just loaded opensuse 11 and when I try to download the 49 updates it tells me that there is no rply from the daemon.Any help would be appreciated being a beginner at opensuse.>:(
Go to YaST → Software → Online Updates
Make sure all Needed Patches (if any) are selected and click Accept at the bottom right
Also go to YaST → Software > Software Management
In the menu bar at the top, go to Package → All Packages → Update if newer version available. Click Accept at the bottom right.

Yes you can update via update notifier but its not 100% reliable. Sometimes it gives error messages.
Updating by above methods always work.
