Thread: 11.1 With No Flash Audio

Default 11.1 With No Flash Audio

    11.1 32-bit with KDE 3.5

Gest sounds from system, Amarok, and smplayer, just not in Flash,
whether with video or without, as on this Flash audio test page:

    http://www.musicofnature.com/songsof...est/index.html

In the process of resolving a series of missing dependencies for audio
software, I found that Flash audio would play on YouTube, but this
capability did not remain following a reboot. To me, this would seem to
suggest some sort of conflict rather than lack of a necessary plug-in,
but I wouldn't bet money on it.

Thumbs down Re: 11.1 With No Flash Audio

I have a similar problem. I have sound trough from the jacks, but dont play sound trough spdif when it's play some flash aplication(youtube etc.). I can't start the system settings>sound application, Cant start alsamixer, and alsa 5.1 test sounds don't have effect(the aplay -vv somefile.wav
can heard trough headphones only ). And i only can use one program what play sound, because if i listen music i can't hear any sound from any other application.

But in the applications i had setup alsa, because if i choose pulse, then i don't have sound, especially trough spdif. So i'm not sure i am using it

The solution for my case was to go into Firefox Preferences/Applications
and change the setting for MP3 audio from "Use mplayer plug-in 3.55 (in
    Firefox)" to:

    Use VLC media player (default)

That resolved the YouTube sound issue, but sound still didn't play for
    the Flash Audio Test Page:

    http://www.musicofnature.com/songsof...est/index.html

Making that work involved making the same setting change in Firefox for
    FLAC audio.

I am guessing that it was something about the order in which things were
installed that resulted in the VLC default getting switched to mplayer
    plug-in.

The link, which was repeated in my reply to Krisztian, works from my
location. Maybe you need to disable ipv6:
