The solution for my case was to go into Firefox Preferences/Applications
and change the setting for MP3 audio from "Use mplayer plug-in 3.55 (in
    Firefox)" to:

    Use VLC media player (default)

That resolved the YouTube sound issue, but sound still didn't play for
    the Flash Audio Test Page:

    http://www.musicofnature.com/songsof...est/index.html

Making that work involved making the same setting change in Firefox for
    FLAC audio.

I am guessing that it was something about the order in which things were
installed that resulted in the VLC default getting switched to mplayer
    plug-in.

In the process of resolving a series of missing dependencies for audio
software, I found that Flash audio would play on YouTube, but this
capability did not remain following a reboot. To me, this would seem to
suggest some sort of conflict rather than lack of a necessary plug-in,
but I wouldn't bet money on it.
    Don't working link. Please update.

The link, which was repeated in my reply to Krisztian, works from my
location. Maybe you need to disable ipv6:

What possibly did it for me:
In yast, go to hardware->sound. In the bottom right corner is an "Other" button, in the menu that pops up choose pulseaudio configuration. In the gigantic amount of options (not really) just enable pulseaudio support.

Then, close yast, open it and check if it's still there. The first time I did this it just disappeared. Then check your volume settings. It propably went down to 0. Everytime you open the sound option in yast, look at your volume. I my case it dropped to 0 each time.

What I did too but is probably totally unrelated: install vlc with plugins, run the pulseaudiomanager, run pulseaudio in the commandline to see if that did something (wasn't running then, now it runs automatically, probably by yast).
When I didn't have audio in firefox, I did get some clicking noise when I played something in youtube. I've had worse soundproblems in opsensuse 11.1 before, but now it seems to run.
