Red plug on my Home folder???

I am not able to "gunzip -c file.tar.gz | xf - " anymore in my own freaking folder!

The last thing I have done that might have created this nightmare is going into Home folder in Konqueror super user mode to edit and save config files for my work project.

Using konsole in user mode gives me bad tar errors.
And when I dir the home folder any new downloaded tar.gz files have only -rw-r–r–

Thanks for some great advice.

And what does the red plug sticking out of my home folder mean in Konqueror? I feel it means something is defiantly screwed up!

Also the Lost & Found in home folder has a yellow lock on it.
Obviously that means I am not allowed to go there.

I just want to be able to do what I want in my home folder

Thanks,
Chetanji

Make sure you are still able to write to your directory, and that you
own it.

Good luck.

I went into Konqueror Super User File Manager and right clicked on home folder and went into permissions and changed owner from root root to chetan users. Now I can execute programs.
I tried your suggestion as per below.

Did I do the correct thing as in above?
Thank you for your help in my ignorance.

Yes, that was exactly what I was looking for. The output of the command
BEFORE you changed things would likely have shown ‘root’ as the
user/group owner of your directory, which would be a problem. You’ve
already changed it back so you’re fine now. Good job working on that as
quickly as you did.

Good luck.
