Unhappy home folder content not visible in Dolphin or Konqueror

    Hi,

I recently performed a fresh install of Opensuse 11.1 on my computer. Despite a few minor issues, the OS is up and running and I am very satisfied with the improvements in 11.1.

After a few reboots, however, I started to notice that I was not able to see the content of my home folder (eg. /home/derek/) in dolphin or konqueror. However, I can access say (/home/derek/Music) if I type the path in the location bar myself. "ls" shows the content of my home folder. However, konsole stopped responding if i use the "-a" flag appending the ls command.

The strangest thing is that the whole problem only occurs once in a while.

I am wondering if anyone have had the same issue. I would greatly appreciate if anyone can offer some insight into the problem.

    Thank you
    Derek

Same thing here, after installation of 11.1 over 11.0. I can got to folders that are in /home/<me> but trying to look in the home folder from gnome, nothing, just the clock icon. Very frustrating.

Question Re: home folder content not visible in Dolphin or Konqueror

Okay, read a tip on another issue I was having, not being able to mount any USB devices, I disabled jexec and now the home folder displays, USB keys mount, and the DVD mounts. Looks like a possible bug to me.....

Just found out a moment ago, the problem also apply to when browsing the home folder with Krusader and Nautilus.

Strangely enough, it works fine if i open dolphin with su.

Thanks. Now that you mentioned about jexec, I remember the problem started to show up after I installed jdk1.6. I disabled jexec; it seems to fix the problem for now.
