Are you trying to add the repo with the .iso files? If so, which .iso?

it appears that the repo i was tring to add (ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/openSUSE:/) was actually just a mirror/redirect to http://download.opensuse.org/reposit.../11.1/standard. so, the issue has been resolved.
