    Default Desktop icons do nothing

I'm new to openSUSE and just installed a virtual machine of it on my Mac.

I'm noticing that the icons on the desktop for the Trash, Firefox, Office and others don't do anything when they are double-clicked. Instead they are highlighted with some options surrounding them which don't appear to do a whole lot, and when highlighted they can be moved across the desktop. Right now the only way I can launch an application is from the launcher in the lower left corner of the screen. I'd sure like to know what I'm doing wrong here! Thanks.

Firstly it's a single click in Linux to run/open.
If you right click on the desktop and choose lock widgets they should work.

Actually it's only a single-click to open if the environment is set to
use single-clicks to open. That is not always the case.

    Good luck.
