Question vmware tools and sax2 settings

Hi, When I [re]install vmware tools the sax2 reports that the screen size is 19' and the dpi and fontsize are not right.

If I run Sax2 (can be done only after init 2) and correct the settings (17") everything looks fine, but vmware tools stop working.

Is there a way to marry these two?

BTW, what is the speed penalty for running suse as a guest in vista (core-2 3 GHz, 4 GB RAM) as opposed to dual boot?

Running SUSE Linux Enterprise I haven't seen this particular scenario,
but I'm using VMware Server (previously 1.0.x, now 2.0.x) so that may
make a difference. Also SLED is built on the 10.x code and I'm using
Gnome primarily (in case you are using KDE or other).

Speed penalty.... you'll probably notice it. NTFS (windows filesystem)
is slow anyway so virtualizing will cause a performance hit there since
now not only is it a VM but it's a VM running inside another OS with a
slower filesystem (filesystem operations are always the slowest part of
your computer anyway). If I had the option I would at least dual-boot
if not have the host be Linux and the guest vista (then you get the
faster filesystem for everything except the VM which is already slower).

Another option with the resolution problem you are seeing.... I think
there is an option during the VM tools setup to have those tools control
your X resolution.... if you see that then opt out and perhaps the tools
    will leave you alone.

Also there are other VM technologies you may enjoy.... VirtualBox,
    KVM/Qemu, etc.

    Good luck.
