Can't get ksplashx splash screens to work

I have opensuse 11.0 and kde 4.1.3.

I can get the ksplashx-suse splash screen working (actually works out-of-the-box), but when I install any others they don’t work.

When I try and test them from the CLI I get the error: “Cannot find description.txt file”. The file is with the splash screen.

These are installed through systemsettings, they show in the list of available splash screens.

What am I missing?

PS:I created a couple of my own using the default as a template. They work and I did not change the description.txt file at all.

OK, I think I figured it out.

The splash screens install to <username>/.kde4/share/apps/ksplash. They need to be there to work. But they also need to be installed in /usr/bin/kde4/share/apps/ksplash.

So they need to be in both places to work!?

I’m finding that a very large number of the ksplah screen I downloaded also require some tweaking in their description.txt files to work (in the /usr… directory)

It seems there is a fix for it. Check the bug in my other post. They put a fix into the SVN for it.

It will be fixed in the next release it looks like.

It seems there is a fix for it. Check the bug in my other post. They put
a fix into the SVN for it.

It will be fixed in the next release it looks like.
