Hello,
My installation is based on the live CD downloaded one week ago:
openSUSE-11.0-KDE4-LiveCD-x86_64.iso
Furthermore, I installed all the updates available.
Now, there is a bug in Kmail: If you configure SMTP not to store passwords, you’re prompted to enter the password. I enter my password and it works. The next time I enter the password and check “store password” and sending works. This means that the password entered was correct! If you then try to send a mail using the stored password, sending fails. It seams that Kmail does not store/read the password correctly.
I do not like KWallet very much. Nevertheless, I was trying to solve my problem using KWallet, but this did not work either, because if I want to store the password, Kmail says that KWallet is not available. Furthermore, if I say that I don’t want to store the password, Kmail stores it anyway. So this is all quite buggy.
Doing some research I saw that this is probably a known bug. Does anybody know how to solve this. At the moment I have to enter the password for every email I send, which is quite annoying.
In general, do you know how the general procedure is? Could I expect this bug being solved by some update coming shortly?
I really stick to using Kmail, having been happy for many years with it, therefore using Thunderbird is not a solution.
Thank you for your help!
Sven
