    Thumbs down Desktop lock

I switched from single user auto login to multi user and disabled auto login. My screen locks after a brief period of inactivity and I must unlock it to continue. How do I change the screen lock? This change in users also made my home directory vanish. I have a new directory but the files are gone. Can I get them back?

You should still have your username showing at the login screen along with any other usernames you have created

Depending on what desktop you are using: kde3, kde4, gnome

Screen lock is usually managed in the screen saver section
uncheck - require password to stop
