Problems installing Java

I thought I was going to star with a simple question. I chosed to try this guide when others have failed Installing Sun's Java on SUSE Linux - openSUSE. But using this guide I can't find "Software/Installation Source". If it's software repositories they mean then I don't get what to write in each field. Can some kind person help me?

Go to Software Repositories and click on the Add button and follow the steps
thereafter. (I hope I got your question right.)

Yes you did. I thought it was software repositories. But I can't for my life figure out what to write in wich field. The guide is not very clear on that point. Do someone know?

Adding Package Repositories

In this guide it sais to use the URL and int the Java guide it sais to use the FTP. But neither works, what am I supposed to write in what field? I don't get it from any guide. Some helpfull soul that can help a lost one?

The Sun Java (sdk /jre / browser plugin) rpms are listed and installable from the openSUSE Non-OSS repository. Do you not have that repository already linked? It should have added it during your initial installation.

If you do not have it:

Open up software repositories from within Yast.
Click add
In the Repository name type: openSUSE-11.0-Non-Oss
In the protocol select: HTTP
In the server name type: download.opensuse.org
In the directory on server type: /distribution/11.0/repo/non-oss/
Click ok...

Once you have that repository successfully added you can do a search on Sun Java. That should get you rolling.

I have the repositorie and I have tried instaling from Yast but not been able. So I thought that I shuold follow the guide. But it's not clear what to write where.

Can you tell us what happens when you try to install using Yast?
Does Yast show the package as installed?
What happens when you open a terminal window and type: java -version

When I type java-version it sais "command not found". Evrything goes OK in YAST but when I'm done I still can't play the Java-games on internet. But it sais what to write in the guide; I just don't know exactly what and in what field. Somebody who can help?

I don't know wich file to install or wich folder to point to because evry time I try there's compatibility problems and such. Whitch is the correct directory to point to if you use the "http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/" mirror?
