Default Stop Google in Firefox choosing the location preferences

    • I set my home page in Firefox to Google and it keeps flicking to Google, admittedly the superior option, but not the one I want.
    • I check the news in Google and get stories about Australia, but I want the world news by default.
    • And so on -- something keeps supposing that I'm a full-on nationalist and habitually directs me to things Australian in Firefox.

The same thing happens if I use Seamonkey.

How do I get rid of this behaviour?

    Thanks

You can't affect the redirection to local servers, it's normal load balancing practice.

There may be a setting for news preferences somewhere, but I don't have their news page enabled so I don't know.

I have a found a way to 'fix' this, although it is not elegant.

Open Firefox and and open the config window by typing about:config in the address bar. You'll get a warning but I'll take it you know what you're doing!

Enter home in the filter and look for the browser.startup.homepage line. Modify the string value by mouse right clicking and change it to ....google.com/webhp and OK.

This seems to take the browser to the .com page without redirecting. Is this what you are looking for?

Edit: just add /webhp to the end of the url - can't post the full url since the forum page changes it to a url link!
