to 64-bit 11.0 jes but to 32-bit not… >:( :\

Jes! Thanks, it is there now

Don’t be too disappointed. A lot of the things that Sun has just got round to implementing in OO3 were in Novell’s OO2.4.

Eventually the other things will be in Novell’s next version but, on past performance, so will a lot of enhancements which won’t reach the Sun version for at least another six months after Novell release their next version.

I thought it might worth mentioning that if you want to use Novell’s version of OO.o, you don’t need to be using openSUSE. You can download it from Your Office Suite(I did not make that change! The forums do it automatically, and its kinda annoying…:P). I’ve installed this on many windows computers, and a derivative of it is on my sisters mac.

OK - I wait final-version in next week
but from opensuses repos, is it the Novell-version or Sun-version from OO?

Novell version

OK - and this ‘Novell-verion’ is Novell-edition…?

Wath and whose is it Go-OO?

And how is it different?

Go-OO is the site where the developers who are waiting for Sun to accept their changes put their version of OO; Novell’s version is very similar if not identical as some of the developers who contribute to Go-OO also work for Novell.

The Go-OO site allows people who are not using openSUSE to download much the same version without the Novell corporate bits.

jake45,

I’m also looking to do the upgrade from 2.4 to 3.0 of openSuSE 11.0.

As I see it the OpenOffice servers are over loaded right now. I’m actually pulling down the .rpm version presntly, but will wait a bit until I see an official repo site to add to my 11.0 set up.

If you find a repo site please post it. Thanks in advance.

BTW, I’m not sure what all the differences between the various versions out there are, but 3.0 seems better than what I have. LOL!

I wait now final-version too, but find it not anywhere…
not from factory-repos - whynot?
How long take it? …packaging to openSuse…

Hi All,

I have not seen any reaction here so far. I think the latest release of OpenOffice 3.0 is a great addition to open source. And, I would like to change my present openSuSE 11.0 set up to add this change.

Are there any recommendations on how to install the presently available OOo_3.0.0_LinuxIntel_install_wJRE_en-US.tar.gz? That is the .rpm package that I downloaded from the OpenOffice site.

Terminal commands welcome! I would have to replace my present 2.4 install.

Comments greatly appreciated.

newest, what I can find, is 3.0.0.6.xxx-xxx:
Index of /factory/repo/oss/suse/i586

but it is newer (more new) rc (?) to - not official - I tru

jake45,

This is starting to drive me crazy!

I’m running Ooo 2.4 from my openSuSE 11.0 set up. The repository is here:

URL: Index of /repositories/OpenOffice.org:/STABLE/openSUSE_11.0

I could not find the OpenOffice reference in the list that you mentioned. I have tried to install the OpenOffice.org .rpm, but it did not up-date Ooo 2.4. In fact, it would not launch where it was installed.

Basically, I’m confused here.

Will we find a way to up-date to 3.0? I hope that greater minds than mine jump in here.

3.0.0.3.4 is here (but it is not final-/offocial-version:
Index of /repositories/OpenOffice.org:/UNSTABLE/openSUSE_11.0/i586

to server: download.opensuse.org
and to directory: repositories/OpenOffice.org:/UNSTABLE/openSUSE_11.0

ps. that: Index of /factory/repo/oss/suse/i586 is NOT rpm-packet!!!
I say, there find newer OO.o rc and it include to opensuse 11.1 beta 3

Greater Mind asks: What functionality or feature are you missing in v 2.4 that
drives you to have such an upgrade to v 3.0 desire?

Is there something missing in 2.4 that causes you to not be able to (for
example) write a document for work/school, build a spread sheet, populate and
mine a data base, draw an artistic masterpiece or impress your boss/professor
with killer Impress presentation?

How about a 4 column sort in calc without mutilating the spreadsheet
[assuming it was implemented, of course]?

PeeGee

Asus M2V-MX SE, AMD 64X2 3800+, openSuSE 10.3 x86-64/XP Home dual boot
Asus M2NPV-VM, AMD LE1640, openSuSE 11.0 x86-64/XP Home dual boot

Yes, I works every days with OpenOffice Writer, Impres and Calc too

Impres in OO 3.x is so much better than in 2.4-version. And Writer support better whit colleaques Ms-products too…

Thatfor I wait OO 3.x official so soon as possible. Now I works with OO 3.0.0.3.4 (rc3 or 4?)

Sorry my poor ‘english’

Today comes to repo new OO-update 3.0.0.3.5
Index of /repositories/OpenOffice.org:/UNSTABLE/openSUSE_11.0/i586
it crashes KDE 4.1.2 more than 3.0.0.3.4

Why? Why comes not final-version from OO 3.0.0?

And you have ready OO 3.0.0.6 - incklude 11.1-beta 3

Index of /factory/repo/oss/suse/i586

Why not it comes to 11.0?

I’m waiting for OO.org 3 in the STABLE repository too
Hope to see it soon
