    Default How to build GCC in i686 pc

    Hi this is Srinidhi. I am new to the world of Linux. I have AMD athlon processor, I built GCC using a rpm file( suse 11 dvd.) But when i try to configure GTK it says no GCC. I used command to know where is gcc it said
    gcc: /usr/bin/gcc /usr/lib/gcc /usr/bin/X11/gcc /usr/share/man/man1/gcc.1.gz
    I dont understand wats the prob pls help me out thnx in advance

    How are you trying to "configure GTK"? Which command were you using to
    see the 'gcc' path? If you were using 'wheries' try using 'which'
    instead. Otherwise let's see how you are configuring things and work on
    that app specifically.

    Thnx 4 replying SHA1. I used ./configure to configure it. Another thing i m not sure abt is does i586 rpms work 4 i686? Cos in my suse dvd there r no gcc rpm in i686 folders.
