Thread: Pidgin + Gfire = crash

  1. #1

Default Pidgin + Gfire = crash

Pidgin loaded fine with Gfire, untill I got my xfire details put in. It will connects breifly as I get disconnected on my gaming rig with the message along the lines of "you have been disconnected as you log in from another computer". But straight after that Pidgin closes on mu openSuSe box :/

I launched it from a shell and noted the error message, but I dont see any real clues for me t see whats wrong. I am using the latest Pidgin (though there site is offline now), and also the latest Gfire grabbed from their site using the .ypm.

    hmm,

which version of pidgin and gfire are you using, how did you installed it, run pidgin -d and paste the output on the forum

Default Re: Pidgin + Gfire = crash

The output has far too many chars for this board to acept. So I have saved the output and hosted it on a server Ive been lazy with.
    http://echouse.me.uk/misc/PidginOutput.html
As for GFire it is 1.7.1 which I installed via rpm. Which I got from Gfire

As for Pidgin Im sure I used the 1 click install from Opensuse Pidgin - openSUSE

This is a new install on an Acer Aspire 5100, Ive been setting up a fair bit so the exacts of the Pidgin/Gfire install may have slipped me slightly, as I attempted to work through it myself to begin with.

I used YaST to install further purple libs, also reinstalling Pidgin from YaST aswell. Same problem persists.

Hope this helps, and thanks for attempting to help!

Default Re: Pidgin + Gfire = crash

hmm, i think the rpm installer is corrupt, every body who compiled it from source had no probs, i would do that too, make sure you have the pidgin-dev and purple-dev installed and compile it from source

    ./configure --prefex/usr
    make
    sudo make install

    this should work
